My Deep, Dark Secret

I have very large library fines. The one I owe right now is a doozy.

Shhhh. Don't tell David. He likes to laugh at me. I say it's just investing in our public library system, so it's really a service to the community. He's not buying it. He even tried to pre-pay my fines at the library once for a birthday gift. The librarians thought that was hysterical.

So did I.

I am so glad that I am not the only one. Thanks for the reminder...our books are due tomorrow. I say...Good Job for teaching your children such a Love for Books!

That is hilarious about pre-paying fines. They should allow it. :)

I have the same issue, and apparently, my kids do, too. Since I just found two of the school's library books in their room and school has been out for three weeks now. OOPS!

I like to say that I have only two mortal flaws: I cheat a card games and I return my library books late EVERY TIME. I actually do over-pay sometimes so I have a credit for next time. I'm laughing about the birthday present idea.

We should start a club. My aunt used to work at the library and erase my fines sometimes. After she quit I was in a world of trouble. In fact, I may still have fines in Salt Lake. So you could just move...hey is that really why you're moving?

That is hilarious! I actually had to tell the librarian one time that I couldn't find one; so they only charged me for the price of the book. Still haven't found it. I think it may be in Oregon somewhere.

I found out that our library fines do not go to the library. The city of San Diego puts the money in their general fund. Because our city is so corrupt I've tried to return books on time since finding that out.

OOOHHH! Ours are due on Thursday I think..thanks for the reminder! The Librarian had to check if I had any dues before she gave Chad a card last time! Good thing I didn't. Chad wouldn't have let me live that one down!

I do too! And I do the same thing...don't tell a soul! :)

Every time my fines get high, I just open a new account for a new kid. I am running out of kids.

Seriously- could you not just buy the book, and not even bother with the library? You'd save bundles.....

ok kerri. The unknown is killing me! What's the fine...$30,$40,$50, $100? I just HAVE to know! Because when I get fines of $20 I think I'm going to die. Literally. Library hell. :0)

Does your current fine beat your record? :-) I need to get to the library, but I'm not excited to see how much I owe this time. For some reason, I just can't seem to keep track of the 47 + books we check out (on multiple cards) each time! :-)

I finally got the twins their own library card and they can read down their own fines (unless it is movie fines)!

Janae, let's just say my fine involves a lost book, so it's well above your $20 panic limit.

Christina, let's just say it's about half of my record. Enough to make me gulp, but not enough to make me cry.

And Lori, I couldn't afford to buy 50 books a week. My library fines are a small price to pay for all the reading that gets done around here.

I wonder how long I can go using my kids' cards? Without putting fines on them? Oh wait. Too late. They already have fines on them...
